Wicked: Wicked Movie Singalong Screenings

Wrapping Up: Inspiring Social Media Marketing Examples for 2025

Why It Works: Airbnb and Mattel partnered to tap into a growing penchant for 90s nostalgia. The ad reflects a life-sized model of a real Polly Pocket toy, demonstrating that it’s never too late for childhood dreams to come true.

Airbnb has become synonymous for unique lodging, with options ranging from themed rooms and houses to treehouses and train cabooses. A recent Airbnb collab with Mattel takes experiential travel to a new level with a life-sized Polly Pocket.

The brand teases the new house with a close-up of a matching Polly Pocket toy from 1994, then slowly zooming out to show a full-sized model that will soon be ready for reservations.

The collaboration comes at a perfect time, as Millennials (those whose childhoods spanned from the late 80s into the 90s) are attracted to nostalgic content from that era. Millennials make up a core part of the audience on Instagram and Facebook, as well as the biggest slice of Airbnb customers.

Why It Works: Dove takes body positivity seriously and uses the new year as a perfect time to reinforce its brand image. The campaign offers a reminder that New Year’s resolutions can — and should — include more than just weight loss goals.

resolutions can mean more than changing how you look. With weight loss being one of the most popular resolutions, Dove uses this opportunity to highlight a different side of the story — that most resolutions are driven by dissatisfaction with appearance.

The company flips the script by promoting an un-resolution. The video in this campaign follows a young woman’s journey as she embraces all that life has to offer, from baking yummy treats to prioritizing self-care.

The campaign sends a positive message that you can live a healthy lifestyle without sacrificing a “year of your life” and being a slave to unrealistic weight loss hacks.

As a marketer, B2B, or B2C brand, the ultimate goal is to grow an audience of loyal followers and micro-influencers around the world that can swing into action whenever called upon. Perhaps no brand is a better example of that than Dove.

Why It Works: With many workers having to return to the office in recent years, sitting for long periods of time is back on the menu. Asics uses its social media campaign to remind its customers to move their bodies — and it’s not unprofessional to take a break from your desk.

Desk jobs offer few opportunities for movement throughout the day, but sneaker brand Asics aims to change this. It combines humor with practicality in its Desk Break campaign to remind users to move their bodies, even if it’s just for 15 minutes at a time.

This educational campaign is simple yet powerful. With many office workers not getting enough exercise because of the nature of their jobs, Asics reminds us it’s acceptable and helpful to get up and move around every once in a while.

A desk break is better than nothing, and the brand encourages others to share how they’re incorporating desk breaks into their days.

TIP: Take a look at some more Instagram examples to inspire you.

Why It Works: The brand gracefully acknowledges the ages-old problem its customers experience — getting their fingers dirty while eating their favorite Cheetos snack. This campaign encourages its customers to embrace the challenge and get used to doing things with their other hand while offering a chance to win branded swag.

If you’ve ever eaten Cheetos, you already know you’re going to get your fingers dirty. That’s why most customers try to keep one clean hand (because the other is coated in cheesy dust).

Cheetos is well aware of the challenge and uses it to their advantage on social media. It teamed up with Corkcicle to create some Cheetos-branded tumblers for a few lucky winners. To snag one, users could take a video of wrapping a gift with their non-dominant hand (aka their non-Cheetos-covered hand).

“The Other Hand” has made appearances in other social media challenges too, like building a snowman, decorating a gingerbread house, or writing.

Why It Works: Starbucks uses the #ToBeAPartner hashtag to encourage employees from all of its stores to show how they’re giving back to communities. It amassed a heap of employee-generated content (EGC) and visibility on social media.

Starbucks turns its store employees into micro-influencers with its To Be A Partner campaign. A brand known for social activism, Starbucks uses its popularity to show how its stores are helping local communities.

The main post on Instagram features vignettes of Starbucks employees engaging with the community in events, from food drives to art installations. It cements the brand’s identity as a community player that offers so much more than coffee and pastries.

UGC is a cost-effective and persuasive source of content that brands will need to help build trust, increase revenue, and encourage stronger relationships with customers.

Why It Works: Lots of big brands contribute to good causes. Maurices goes the extra mile by shining a light on the types of causes they donate to, helping to reinforce its values and image.

Clothing company Maurices took to social media to announce how it gives back to communities. It offers a breakdown of its contributions to various causes, including women’s mental health, local charities, disaster relief, and victims of human trafficking and domestic violence.

The post was a simple yet powerful statement about the brand’s values. It also demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing more than just clothing and accessories; it’s a champion for women and provides support in the form of money, clothing donations, and volunteer hours.

Why It Works: Poppi’s eye-catching and colorful posts reflect its bubbly personality. It draws on this inspiration to promote its new flavor while “stopping the scroll” and keeping its users engaged.

Poppi has turned the soda industry on its head by touting safer, cleaner ingredients in its products. It also knows how to have a little fun with its social media posts, leaning toward bright colors and eye-catching artwork that encourages users to stop and stare awhile.

While all of the brand’s posts stand out, its “Eye Spy” post stands out a little more. Poppi crafted a colorful collage to tease a new soda flavor. This unique approach not only plays to the brand’s bright image, but it also encourages its audience to savor the post. Users can comb through the fine details and try to figure out what new flavor the brand is cooking up next.

Why It Works: A movie with a cult following even before it was released in theaters demonstrates it’s listening to its audience members. The brand responded with singalong screenings to satisfy its musically gifted fans and those who prefer to just watch the film.

Before it was a major motion picture, Wicked delighted musical theater fans of all ages. Its songs have won numerous awards, and many movie-goers already knew the words to its hits before they stepped foot in the theater.

Unfortunately for some viewers, this also meant many fans of the show were singing along in theaters. They weren’t shy about venting their frustrations on social media, either.

The solution, of course, was to offer exclusive singalong screenings. Viewers can choose how to engage with the film — with their ears only or with their own voices. It’s a prime example of social listening done right.

In many ways, social media is a ubiquitous landscape for marketing. So when a brand can push through that with a truly unique, attention grabbing, and lively campaign, then it's a job well done for brand awareness and authentic engagement.

Advertising on TikTok can be a great way to grow your TikTok account, promote your products, and generate sales. Here’s how to create your first TikTok ad.

TikTok, the hottest video entertainment platform, has quickly become one of the top hotspots for social media marketing. With more than one billion monthly active users, TikTok ads are a great way to showcase your brand to countless potential customers. And with the average adult spending 58 minutes on the platform per day, you’ll be talking to a highly engaged audience.

Advertising on TikTok takes a slightly different approach than other social media platforms. It’s all video content here, and TikTok has tons of features not found on other sites. Knowing your TikTok ad options will help to drive your campaign forward, so let’s dive into the specifics!

How to Advertise on TikTok: Getting Started

TikTok advertising comes in many shapes and sizes. Here’s a rundown of the types of TikTok ads you can leverage.

Despite video being TikTok’s schtick, you can run image-only ads that appear in TikTok’s news feed apps, such as BuzzVideo or TopBuzz. Image ads consist of your brand name, the image, and ad text.

Video ads can be shown in the TikTok app or its family of news feed apps. Videos can be anywhere between 5 and 60 seconds long and include an ad display image, your brand name, and ad copy.

These multi-day campaigns are designed to encourage user engagement. Along with the challenge advertisement, any user-generated content that comes as a result of the campaign will also appear alongside the hashtag challenge page.

Spark Ads is a native ad format where you can use your own TikTok posts or posts from other users’ accounts. This is a great way to leverage user-generated content as part of your ad campaigns.

Pangle is the ad network of TikTok for Business. It enables ad developers to maximize earnings and reach more users via TikTok for Business.

Another option just for TikTok’s news feed apps, carousel ads are a collection of images. Each image features its own caption. Users can scroll through the carousel to experience the full ad campaign.

Managed brands can take advantage of TopView Ads on TikTok. These ads are video ads that take over the user’s whole screen for the duration of the ad. Videos can range between five and sixty seconds and appear when the user launches TikTok.

TikTok is well known for its branded stickers and video effects. Brands can leverage these branded effects as part of their TikTok advertising strategy to encourage users to interact with your brand.

TikTok ads specs ensure your images and videos fit within the screen and that your video doesn’t cut off mid-roll due to file size. Best practices for TikTok ads specs include:

Ideal resolution is 720px (minimum resolution of 540 x 960 px or 640 x 640 px is required)

Ad description max characters 100 (no emojis)

Acceptable file types include mp4, .mov, .mpeg, .3gp, or .avi

Video duration of 5-60 seconds (recommended 21-34 seconds)

Spark Ads offer more lenient TikTok ad specs. There are no limitations or recommendations on aspect ratio, minimum resolution, video duration, or file size. You can also use emojis in the ad description.

How much do TikTok ads cost? It’s a fair question whose answer will vary depending on your campaign goals and budget. However, TikTok advertising has minimum budget requirements to get started.

At the Ad Group level, plan on setting aside at least $20 per day.

At the Campaign level, ad cost is at least $50 per day.

Advertising on TikTok follows a bidding model, meaning your ad costs may vary depending on the type of ad format you’re using and your bid limits.

TikTok recommends choosing the daily budget option instead of the lifetime budget. It also suggests leaving the budget open so that you have a better chance of winning your bid.

If using Bid Cap or Cost Cap bidding, Tiktok suggests setting your initial budget to 20x your target CPA.

For an App Installs campaign, TikTok recommends a budget of no less than $100 per day and 20x your target CPA. The same goes for Conversions campaigns.

TIP: Don't miss our article about TikTok hashtags to get more views for your account, complete with an AI chatbot that can generate campaign-ready hashtags instantly!

To set up a TikTok ad campaign, log into the TikTok Ads Manager and click Campaign. From there, follow these steps to launch your ad:

Like other social media marketing opportunities, TikTok ads can cater to each stage of your sales funnel. TikTok offers seven options for your campaigns, including:

Lead generation using a pre-populated form

Conversions for specific actions on your website

Catalog sales (only available to those with a managed ad account)

You’ll choose a budget for your overall campaign. Later, you’ll divide your budget between various ad groups, so think about the scope of your whole campaign when setting budgets. You also have the option to choose No Limit and set specific ad group budgets later.

You’ll also name your campaign in this step. The campaign name can contain up to 512 characters.

Each campaign can be broken down into separate ad groups (up to 999). From there, you can assign a unique name to each ad group.

For each ad group, you can choose where the ads will appear, including:

News feed app placement (ads within TikTok’s other apps)

Automatic placement (TikTok optimizes ad placement)

4. Activate automated creative optimization (optional)

TikTok can automatically generate different combinations of your images, videos, and text. The ad system will automatically show the best-performing ads. For now, just choose whether you want to activate this feature or handle it on your own.

You can choose audience characteristics to target your audience (and maximize your ad spend). Characteristics include:

Interests (e.g., technology, automotive, baby, kids, and maternity)

Next, you’ll set individual ad budgets for your various groups along with the schedule for each group. You can assign a daily or lifetime budget for each group. The Dayparting feature also lets you choose to run your ads at certain times in specific time zones.

TikTok advertisers can choose between three bidding strategies:

Bid Cap: Set a maximum bid per click (CPC), per view, or per 1,000 impressions (CPM).

Cost Cap: Average cost per 1,000 impressions (CPM), which may fluctuate above or below the cost cap amount but will average out to the predetermined cost.

Lowest Cost: Automatically optimize the campaign ad spend to achieve the maximum results possible at the lowest cost.

You’ll also choose how to divide your budget. Standard delivery will split your ad spend evenly throughout the campaign. Accelerated will spend your ad budget as quickly as possible.

You can include up to 20 ads within each ad group. Choose your ad format, then add your own photos or videos OR create a video within the ads manager using TikTok’s templates and tools.

Choose a default thumbnail or create your own, then add your text and link. You can preview your ad on the screen as you develop it. Once you’ve added all elements, click Submit.

TikTok reviews all ads before they go live.

As an alternative to the above process, you can boost existing posts on TikTok for a small fee. Similar to Facebook Boost, you can promote an existing video in a few short steps:

Go to your creator profile, then tap Creator Tools.

TikTok Advertising Guide: 9 Steps To Creating TikTok Ads

Bluesky has been getting a lot of media attention recently, so it’s no surprise that people are wondering how it compares to Twitter/X. The two micro-blogging platforms share a lot of similarities, but also differ in some important ways, and in this blog we’ll explain exactly how they stack up against each other.

Twitter, Bluesky, and their Shared History

If Bluesky and Twitter seem to have a lot in common, it’s because Bluesky started life as an internal project at Twitter in 2019. The idea behind the project was to create a social media service like Twitter/X that could be open source and decentralized, rather than being owned and managed by a single corporate entity.

The result of this experiment was the AT Protocol, a kind of standard framework that can be used by anybody to build decentralized and interoperable social media platforms. Bluesky was built by Twitter/X as an initial proof-of-concept to show how the AT Protocol could work, and eventually in 2021 it was spun out into an independent company called Bluesky Social PBC (Public Benefit Company).

Both platforms offer the same essential functionality. Users can post their own content (text, images, video) which is displayed on a timeline on their own profile page, which can include a bio, profile picture, and header image.

Posts on Twitter/X can be 280 characters in length, or up to 25,000 for X Premium subscribers, while Bluesky offers no similar premium subscription service, and all users face the same 300 character limit for their posts. Posts can include dynamic mentions of other users on each platform, by prefacing their username with the @ symbol, and users can reply to each other’s posts to create discussion threads, or simply repost to their own timelines.

Both platforms also provide users with a timeline consisting of content from other users - either those you have chosen to follow, or those the algorithm thinks you might like. Other similarities include the use of hashtags to categorize and discover posts on related topics, and the ability to create lists of users.

So, in terms of the microblogging fundamentals, Bluesky and Twitter/X offer similar capabilities.

Once you look beyond those basic features it becomes clear that Twitter/X is a much more mature platform than Bluesky, and offers a far richer feature-set. For example, Twitter/X has great Trending Topics functionality that shows you what’s happening around the world, in real-time, which is part of what helps it to deliver on its promise of being the world’s Town Square.

Bluesky has only just added a beta version of its own Trending Topics feature, and at present it feels much more basic, with limited results and no ability to focus on local trends rather than global.

Twitter/X also offers a far wider range of content types for users. This includes relatively simple things, such as the ability to add polls to posts, through to more sophisticated formats such as Spaces, which are audio discussions that can be live-streamed to a wide audience. Users can also easily live-stream video through their profile.

A key difference between the two services is how verification works. On Twitter/X anybody can get a verified “Blue Tick” if they subscribe to the premium service. On Bluesky, verification is only available to people who own their own website or URL, and the process works by changing your Bluesky handle to the URL of your website.

The main difference between the two social networks is in their user-base. Twitter/X has been around since 2006 and has had plenty of time to build up a substantial number of users, currently estimated to be at around 336 million, whereas Bluesky has around 25 million.

Due to the network effect, this means it’s easier to build up a following on Twitter/X simply because it has significantly more people using it. New users to Bluesky will find that it can take longer to find an audience, and consequently engagement will be much lower than they might expect from other social channels.

At present, Bluesky is essentially a basic version of Twitter/X with a much smaller user community, and for that reason brand social media managers may see limited value in it. However, Bluesky is gradually attracting an increasing number of users who are looking for a different experience to other more established social platforms, so it’s certainly worth experimenting with.

Bluesky Vs Twitter/X, What’s the Difference?

Microblogging platform, Bluesky, is the hot new thing all of a sudden.

But we don’t mean hot like TikTok, with hundreds of millions of new Gen - Z users, because Bluesky hasn’t passed 25 million users yet. And it’s not exactly new either, since it’s been around for close to five years now.

No, this is a different kind of hot. This kind of hot is your favorite writers, journalists, academics, researchers, actors, artists, creators, comedians and other people of note all suddenly choosing to hang out there.

Bluesky hasn’t enjoyed the sheer explosion of user numbers that we’ve seen on apps like TikTok, but since November it’s seen a surge in popularity amongst the kind of people who have something interesting to say, and prefer to say it in pithy, short-form posts.

Since Twitter underwent significant changes following its sale in 2022, some users decided that it wasn’t the right platform for them any more, and began looking for an alternative with similar functionality. For a while, they were spoiled for choice, with lots of new microblogging platforms sprouting up and hoping to become serious rivals to Twitter.

Many of them withered on the vine, but a few managed to keep going long enough to attract a big enough user base to sustain them. Mastodon got a lot of attention as a potential Twitter alternative, but the user experience was just a bit too clunky and many people found it confusing. Current user numbers for Mastodon are around 10 million.

Threads, on the other hand, was everything you’d expect from Meta, slick, nicely designed, and easy to get to grips with. By integrating it lightly with Instagram, Meta was able to drive significant user growth, and the platform currently has 275 million users, making it the closer competitor to Twitter in terms of sheer volume.

That’s more than ten times the number of users that Bluesky currently has, so why are some people choosing Bluesky over Threads? Let’s look more closely at what the platform offers.

Bluesky is a micro-blogging platform where users can publish posts of up to 300 characters, along with images and videos. Your timeline offers a lot of different options, but at its most basic you can choose a simple feed of the most recent posts from the accounts you follow in reverse chronological order, just like things used to be in the early days of social media. This simplicity is popular among a lot of users who don’t like the new era of algorithm-driven timelines.
