Sports Illustrated is a sports multimedia company that includes several print publications (Sports Illustrated, SI Kids, GOLF Magazine), a thriving web site in SI.com as well as SI Books, SI Pictures, SI Productions, SI Digital and SI Events.

“We did not have an efficient way of monitoring how much pickup the SI brand received online. Prior to using Meltwater our methods of measuring web pickup took too much time and did not have a widespread reach.

With the Meltwater solution, we are mailed reports every morning and afternoon, which we sort through for the most buzz-worthy clips – those worth sharing internally with the rest of the company. We also tabulate how many clips were picked up every two weeks for our bi-weekly PR recap (sent internally). Overall we use Meltwater to measure how much the SI brand is being picked up as well as how.

The graph and analysis components give us a great indication of how our performance fluctuates (either positively or negatively) throughout a given time period, while the matrix gives us hard data, notably the popularity of the web outlets where the SI brand is picked up.

Meltwater is the primary indicator of SI web performance that we utilize, and in that sense it is very important to us with our day-to-day work.”
